Exclusive Stories for You!

Things are happening!

I am working on a complete relaunch of my fiction. What does that mean? I am recovering, editing, and, in some cases, adding new scenes to all of my fiction works.

First up -
Transcend! It's getting a breath-taking new cover and is being released in audio book format. The narrator, Ian Gordon, is amazing. Everything should be ready for a grant re-release in late November.

After that, the Solomon Experiments will be finished, with books 2 and 3 expecting to release in early 2016. The books, including Collide, are getting a stunning new look, as well as audio book production. I anticipate the releases to be monthly, starting in January with a re-release of Collide. The Requiem Series will also get an amazing overhaul, with new covers, new titles and greatly expanded stories for books 2 and 3. My goal is starting the releases in Spring, right after the Solomon Experiments.

In addition to the relaunches, I have several new stories in various stages of completion.
 It is an exciting time!

To start things off, I want to offer exclusive material to my newsletter readers - my way of thanking you for your readership. So, I'll be sending a new short story each week for the several weeks leading up to the re-release of Transcend. These are short, stand-along stories delivered to your mailbox every Wednesday for the next month.

NOT SIGNED UP? You can sign up now to get in on the fun! CLICK HERE

Oh, and be sure to come by the blog every day this week. I'll be giving away copies of COLLIDE as part of the Crossroads 2015 blog tour. You won't want to miss out on the fun!

Making Peace with My Process

I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by amazing people in my personal and professional lives. Writers who produce high-quality books at a Patterson-like pace. Consultants who develop Ted Talk like workshops and speeches. Friends who are able to spontaneously reach out and connect with others better than those with PR teams. I feel so blessed.

And sometimes, I feel inadequate.

Okay, maybe I drift into feelings of inadequacy more often than I would like.

Here's what I've come to discover, though: my process is different than the people I mentioned above. Not better, not worse, just different. I don't write at the furious pace some of my author friends muster. That just isn't how I work. Could I be more efficient and produce more than I current produce - yes. But will I ever produce 5+ books every single year? Probably not.

When it comes to speaking, I am good - and while I might not spend the copious amounts of time my friends spend on their preparation, I know my talents in this area are strong and I am happy with my results. Could I develop even better ways to reach my audience - absolutely. Do I work on that regularly - of course. Will my process mirror some friends of mine? Nope. Their process is not my process. And that is fine.

With relationships, I have come to terms with the ups and downs of my introversion. I know when I can reach out and connect, and I know when I need to hide. I have learned to manage my intensities and reel in my expectations of others when needed. Will I be as adept as some of my more extroverted friends at the art of social connections - nope. Does that matter? Not really. My process is my own.

Ultimately, life is not a race. It's about discovering YOUR path, YOUR authenticity. It's about embracing everything it means to be you and pushing forward.

So, I may have had a ridiculous dry spell with my fiction. Coming back to writing may have been really hard for me. But it is all just part of my process. And I embrace it fully.

Do you embrace your process?

Do you dream in color?

Those of you who know me know that I like to write vivid scenes. There is a simple reason for this - most of my books start off as dreams. Not the flat, black/white dreams most people think of when then think of dreaming. But Blockbuster, Full-Action, Movies that play in an endless loop in my head. Stories so full and real it takes me a minute after I've woken up to realize they were a dream.

Most of my dreaming happens at night. But when I am working on a particular piece, the scenes pop into my daydreams as well. In fact, every one of my books has had at least one of the scenes play out in my dreams first. I could be sitting at my desk, or more often in my car, thinking about nothing in particular when...
WHAM!
I am transported into a daydream ripped from my current WIP. It is in this state that I generally solve the nagging questions, get myself out of plot traps, or discover new, deeper, levels to the story.

Over the past several months, I have not had these dreams - at night or in the day. I haven't written, nor been inspired, nor given much thought to my fiction. That changed a week ago. I had a powerful dream about me, the writer. I was encouraged to push forward. Shortly after that dream, my daydreams returned. And now...now I am beginning to chip away at my blockage.

The dreams aren't as vivid yet, or as intense. But based on the thoughts trolling through my head as I write this blog post, I can see that my days of not writing are coming to an end.

And I am thrilled!!!

I end this post as I started it - asking you this:

Do you dream in color? Do your dreams influence your stories in some way?
