Michelle has always helped the writing community with her frank discussions of the good , the bad, and the ugly in this business. She candidly shared her reasons for every publishing decision she has made, and I for one have really benefited from watching her journey. So, when she asked if I'd like to read and review Monarch, of course I said yes. She knows I do only positive reviews here, so for me to post at all means I liked it...A LOT
But before we get to that, here are some of the basics:
Release Date: September 15, 2011
Basic Blurb: (from Amazon):
Nick's life as a CIA spy should be fulfilling, but it has only given him unhappiness, a wife who committed suicide, and two daughters who resent everything he has become. Now, stuck in the Amazon on the last mission of his career, he must track down Matheus Ferreira, a drug lord and terrorist the United States has tried to bring down for years. If he succeeds, he'll have the chance to start his life over again. Just when he's on the brink of catching Ferreira, he's framed for a murder that turns his world upside down. His only chance of survival lies in West Virginia, where Lilian Love, a woman from his past, owns the secluded Monarch Inn. He's safe, but not for long.Need more of a reason to check it out? Why I liked it:
First, let me start by saying that I LOVE adult fiction and thrillers...and I really love Adult Thrillers! Living in YA land for the last few years, reading and writing a ton of YA lit, I have missed cozying up with a great spy novel or murder mystery and losing myself in it for a few hours.
Enter MONARCH.
This story has a little bit of everything - secrets, lies, betrayal, assassins, terrorists....
Yep, it's got it all! From the first page through it's last you will remained gripped to the story, unwilling to close the book. Michelle's lyrical writing style and strong character development adds to the well-developed plot.
I really enjoyed the mc - his motivations throughout the book are something I could identify with. All in all, this was a great read!
BUT....
Don't take my word for it! I'm giving away one copy of MONARCH (digital or print) to a lucky commenter. Just follow this blog and leave a comment. Contest closes on Friday, Sept 23rd. Trust me, if you like thrillers at all, you will LOVE this one.
GREAT JOB MICHELLE!!!
